New York Medicaid MNT coverage: codes and referrals

The short answerSince January 1, 2024, New York Medicaid lets certified dietitians/nutritionists enroll and bill directly for medically necessary MNT, for fee-for-service and managed care members. A licensed practitioner must recommend the service, and fee-for-service claims use 97802 and 97803 in 15-minute units (97804 for groups). Managed care plans set their own billing rules and fees.
