Medicare MNT Billing for Registered Dietitians

Medicare Part B covers Medical Nutrition Therapy for beneficiaries with diabetes or non-dialysis chronic kidney disease, and for 36 months after a kidney transplant, when the treating physician refers them. Coverage is measured in hours: three in the first year, two in each year after, with more possible on a new referral when the condition or treatment changes. To bill it you enroll in Medicare yourself. These guides cover enrollment, referrals, hour limits and how Medicare Advantage plans differ.
